Share sample chapters that belong to a book.
In this tutorial I will show you how to publish an excerpt, a sample your readers can read online.
1. Go to Book Excerpts > Add New.
2. Enter the title, for example “Chapter One” or the chapter’s name.
3. In the main editor, paste the sample text itself.
4. In the Excerpt field, write a one or two sentence teaser. This is shown on the excerpt card.
5. In the Which book is this excerpt from? box, choose the book.
6. Set the Order (under Page Attributes) to control the chapter sequence: 1, 2, 3 and so on.
7. Publish.
Each excerpt is shown in a calm “reading room” layout with a large opening initial and links to the previous and next chapter of the same book. At the end, the book’s cover and buy button appear, so a reader who enjoys the sample can buy in one step.
The front page shows your most recent excerpts, with a More excerpts link to the full list, grouped by book.
